The Chin Implant Procedure

After sedation, the chin area is anesthetized with local anesthetic. A one-inch incision is made below the chin to place the implant. The implant is placed on the front surface of the chin bone and secured in place with sutures that close the incision.

Recovery from a Chin Implant

There are no bandages or dressings. Bruising is unusual and discomfort is minimal. Swelling and numbness around the chin is experienced through the first ten days and antibiotics are taken during this period. Soft foods are recommended for the first few days and physical activity can resume after ten days.
