Restylane®

Winter Special

“ Thank you and your staff for taking the time to listen to my concerns. You are all so caring and made me feel comfortable from the moment I had my first appointment. ”
– Fay Mahoney

Restylane® is the most popular wrinkle filler in the United States today, and has been used for cosmetic purposes for more than a decade. The product is made with cross-linked hyaluronic acid, which is an important structural component found in the skin that promotes suppleness, hydration, and provides volume.

Dr. Hunts injects Restylane® into the skin in tiny amounts with a very fine needle. The results are instantaneous and produce a long-lasting, natural enhancement that is gentle and safe to your skin. Restylane® will last from 6 to 12 months and is effective for reducing wrinkles around the corners of the mouth, the lips, the nasolabial folds, and the frown lines. Restylane® is also an excellent temporary filler for adding lip volume and is effective for up to six months when injected in the lips. Restylane® is a long-lasting, non-permanent, filler leaving you the option of fine tuning your treatment with changing taste and fashion.

Restylane can also be used around the eyes to add volume to depressed areas, acne scars, or for any other irregularities in the face. It is also the treatment for rejuvenation of the hands.

As with any filler, a consultation with Dr. Hunts is necessary to discuss the options and to determine which areas are best suited for treatment.

In its latest formula, Restylane-L® (with lidocaine), a treatment with Restylane® is more comfortable than ever before. A topical anesthetic can also be applied upon your request. After Restylane, it is important that you avoid strenuous exercise, sun and alcoholic beverages for the first 24 hours. Swelling may be noticeable at least for the first 48-72 hours; you can minimize it with indirect application of ice. Avoid touching the area during this time. Injectables can be lumpy or uneven, this can be resolved simply with a hot, moist washcloth applied to the area for 5 - 10 minutes along with a gentle massage until the area is smooth. This should be done within one week following treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Restylane® made of?
Restylane® is the first and only cosmetic dermal filler made of non-animal-based hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance that already exists in the human body and is used to provide volume and fullness to the skin. The hyaluronic acid in Restylane® is a crystal-clear gel that is biodegradable and completely biocompatible with human hyaluronic acid.

How does Restylane® work?
As you get older, your face loses its shape. Restylane® simply restores that fullness and provides a smoother contour to the face.

How long does Restylane® last?
The average treatment results last six to nine months or even longer.

Is Restylane® safe?
Yes. Restylane® has been used safely by dermatologists and plastic surgeons since 1996 worldwide. Because Restylane® is non-animal-based and fully biocompatible, allergy testing is not required. This quality virtually eliminates any risk of animal-based disease transmission or allergic reaction.

Are there any side effects?
As with any injection, some common injection-related reactions might occur. The most common side effects are temporary redness and swelling at the injection site. These typically resolve within two to three days.

How is Restylane® administered?
Restylane® is injected directly into the skin in tiny amounts using an ultrafine needle. After the injection, Dr. Hunts may gently massage your skin to optimize contouring. Restylane® is a simple and convenient procedure and results are practically instantaneous.

How often should I have Restylane® treatments done?
Restylane® lasts twice as long as collagen, so treatments are typically scheduled twice a year. Evidence shows that having a touch-up treatment before the product has fully dissipated will enhance the lasting effect.

Does the FDA approve Restylane®?
Yes. Restylane® is FDA approved for use in the U.S.

Do Restylane® injections hurt?
Restylane® is injected directly into the skin in tiny amounts by an ultrafine needle, resulting in temporary discomfort. To optimize your comfort during the short procedure, we use a topical anesthetic on the treatment area.
