What type of activity can I do after surgery?
It is best to take a few days off from strenuous activity/work and gradually get back into your normal routine.
Can I shower after surgery?
You can usually shower the day after surgery allowing the water to run off the back of your head and not down into your eyes or face. If you have had a procedure where the incisions are in the hairline, you will need to wait at least 4 days and use baby shampoo to wash your hair.
When can I start wearing my contact lenses?
You will need to wait at least 3 days after surgery.
I have blood stained tears.
This is very common for a few days after surgery, but will subside.
When can I wash my face?
Depending on your surgery you can wash your face the next day being careful around the surgery area. It is best not to wash those areas; just use warm compresses to carry any debris away from the suture site.
I have swelling under my eyes and on my upper cheeks.
It is normal to have swelling that falls to your cheeks even though you might have had surgery on your upper lids. The swelling sometimes looks like there is fluid built up in your cheeks; this will subside and improve as you continue to heal. REMEMBER EVERYONE HEALS DIFFERENTLY.
What if I still have some bruising 7 days after surgery?
If this is the case continue the warm compresses a few times a day to help eliminate this.
When can I wear makeup?
It is best not to wear makeup for 5-7 days after surgery. For resurfacing you will need to wait at least 10 days. If you have questions regarding skin care we can schedule a consultation with our aesthetician.
