What wrinkles will be treated with BOTOX®?

Facial wrinkles generally fall into one of two categories: dynamic or static. Dynamic wrinkles are caused by the action of facial muscles and appear as forehead creases, brow furrows and crows feet. If left untreated, dynamic wrinkles eventually become static wrinkles, which are more permanent and are present even when the facial muscles are at rest. Sun exposure, smoking, underlying skin conditions, poor nutrition, gravity or genetic factors can all speed up the development of static wrinkles. BOTOX® Cosmetic can be used to prevent the formation or the progression of both dynamic and static facial wrinkles, causing them to disappear or diminish dramatically over time.

Botox® Frequently Asked Questions

What is BOTOX® Cosmetic?
BOTOX® is a purified protein with the ability to relax the treated muscles temporarily. Depending on the amount of BOTOX® used and on the strength of the muscles being treated, the effect may be complete or partial relaxation of expression lines. The effects seen by BOTOX® typically last 3-6 months; longer effects are seen with continued treatment.

How is BOTOX® Cosmetic used?
BOTOX® is injected into the muscles than make facial wrinkles: between the brows, around the eyes and in the forehead .  These muscles are responsible for frown lines, smile lines (crow’s feet) and forehead lines. BOTOX® blocks nerve impulses to the treated muscles, preventing them from contracting and wrinkling the skin, giving the skin a smoother appearance.

Does it hurt?
Most patients experience little to no discomfort and compare the sensation to that of an insect bite. Treatment typically takes 10-15 minutes. After your treatment you should not exercise strenuously, this will prevent the BOTOX® from spreading to other muscles.
